Make an SRT file in three steps

  1. STEP 1

    Generate the transcript

Upload video or audio and choose the caption output. Select Urdu before generating if you need Urdu-script spellings.

  2. STEP 2

    Correct text and cue times

Listen to the clip and check the words, grouping and start/end times. Remove errors before handing the file to another editor.

  3. STEP 3

    Download SRT

Use the SRT download in the editor. Keep the same source cut when importing the subtitle file elsewhere.

What an SRT actually contains

SRT is a text file with numbered cues. Each cue has a start time, an end time and a line of subtitle text. The sample below is produced by Capflair’s SRT serializer, with milliseconds separated by a comma.

The file is useful when a receiving app needs editable subtitle text rather than captions already drawn into the picture. It contains cue timing, not the animation or individual word positions from your caption design.

Urdu script or Roman Urdu?

Choose Urdu when you want the words in Urdu letters, or Roman Urdu when Latin letters are a better fit. Mixed Urdu + English output retains English words inside the Urdu line. Decide before transcription where possible and review converted spellings if you change the writing system later.

An Urdu SRT relies on the receiving player’s font and right-to-left text support. Check a mixed line with an English name or number in the actual app you will use. Roman Urdu avoids some script-display issues, but you should still check spelling and line length.

Review the cue timing against the final cut

Use the exact source cut you plan to publish. If you shorten the intro or remove a sentence after generating the subtitles, the original cue times will no longer match. Make those edits first or return to the project to review and retime the subtitles.

Check a cue near the beginning, one in the middle and the last cue. A subtitle should remain long enough to read without lingering through the next thought. Fix invalid or overlapping timing in the editor and replay the transitions rather than relying only on the time numbers.

Keep the design when you need it

If you need Nastaliq fonts, moving highlights or per-word colour to look the same everywhere, export a captioned video. The chosen look is rendered into the picture. Send the SRT alongside that video if a collaborator also needs a text version for corrections or subtitle import.

Capflair’s subtitle download is SRT. The interface does not promise VTT or ASS export. Avoid renaming the extension to another subtitle format: that does not convert the contents. Keep an untouched copy of the downloaded file when editing subtitle text outside the app.

Limits, stated plainly

  • SRT does not carry styles, animation or per-word placement.
  • Urdu display depends on the player and its fonts.
  • Cue timing needs review if the video cut changes.
  • The free plan includes 2 minutes of transcription a month, all caption styles and watermarked video exports. Online checkout is opening soon; ask support about a manual upgrade.
